His last posting was in Kanpur Nagar. There, he worked as Commissioner of Police and he led the team with discipline and clear vision.
In 2004, he became the first IPS officer to volunteer for the NSG’s Black Cat Commando Course from 2004 to 2008, he served in this elite force.
Because of his training and sharp skills, he was chosen to lead the Close Protection Team (AIG CPT). This team was part of the Special Protection Group. He protected the then-prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, during this time.

Asim Arun in Project Seva 100
Arun started a professional police helpline system called 100 in Aligarh in 2008. The system was known for its reliable steps and quick response time. People praised it. While he led the police in other areas, he expanded it to Hathras, Gorakhpur, and Agra. Later, as Inspector General of Police Telecom, he helped build better police control rooms. In 2020, March and April, during the COVID-19 lockdown, UP 112 changed its work quickly. It became the main group handling requests for help, which included food, medicine, and other aid. They used Police Response cars and Police Station cars to deliver it. They reached people in need, and they followed safety rules. IPS Asim was the Chief of UP 112 during this time, and he led the team through the whole operation.

Arun announced on January 8, 2022, that he would leave the IPS. He said he would join the Bharatiya Janata Party and wanted to start a political career. He later won the Uttar Pradesh Assembly seat from Kannauj Sadar. This place was a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party for many years. His win surprised many people.
