Kanwar Dhillon, who rose to fame with Pandya Store, is nowadays in the news for his portrayal of Sachin Deshmukh in Star Plus ‘Udne Ki Aasha.’ However, only a few know that he debuted in 2012 with a small negative role in the series “The Buddy Project” on Channel V. Debut and breakthrough (2012-2015)
Dhillon debuted as an actor in The Buddy Project in 2012. In the second season, he played a college student named Kunal.
In 2013, Dhillon played Aditya Vyas Bhatnagar, a vindictive son, opposite Pallavi Gupta in the second season of Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha. This was his first significant role, which turned out to be his breakthrough and a significant turning point in his career.
He costarred with Shritama Mukherjee as Vidhaan Nayak in Do Dil Ek Jaan from 2013 to 2014. In 2014, he played Varun Lal in an episode of Halla Bol and played Kartik, a criminal in Yeh Hai Aashiqui, opposite Mrinalini Tyagi.
From 2014 to 2015, Dhillon portrayed Shivprasad Mishra, a family-oriented man who starred alongside Pratyusha Banerjee in Hum Hain Na. He also made an appearance as a guest on Killerr Karaoke Atka Toh Latkah and played Lucky on an episode of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya in 2015.
Career advancement and break (2016-2020)
Dhillon portrayed Arjun Singh post the leap in Piya Rangrezz from 2015 to 2016, alongside Gaurav S Bajaj and Narayani Shastri.
In 2017, he portrayed the dual role of brothers Shiv Aggarwal and Om Aggarwal in Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee, opposite Tina Ann Philip. While Shiv was a religious man, Om wanted to destroy his family. The same year, he portrayed Surya, alongside Aakanksha Singh, in an episode of Aye Zindagi.
In 2018, Dhillon first played for Kota Royals Rajasthan in the Box Cricket League. He then portrayed Sangram in an episode of the series Laal Ishq, opposite Yashashri Masurkar. He next portrayed Samrat Murushottam Mittal, an obsessive lover in Internet Wala Love, opposite Tunisha Sharma.
In 2020, he portrayed an army officer in the music video Yaad Baarish Mein, opposite Sonal Pradhan. From 2019 to 2020, Dhillon took a break from television due to his health issues.
Recognition and Appreciation with Pandya Store and Beyond (2021–present)
Dhillon played Shiva Pandya opposite Alice Kaushik in Pandya Store from 2021 to 2023. He received more exposure and acclaim as a result of the event. For his performance, Dhillon received nominations for both the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and the ITA Award for Best Actor Popular.
He also presented Pyar Ka Pehla Nasha, a special program on Star Plus, in 2021 in the role of Shiva alongside Kaushik. It included couples from Star Plus’s shows in the top 10 romantic moments of 2021.
In the game show Ravivaar With Star Parivaar in 2022, Dhillon played Shiva Pandya again.
